The deputy María Clemente García announced that, as of this Thursday, March 31, she left the bench of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) at argue that there are acts of “hypocrisy” within the parliamentary group.

Through her official Twitter account, the legislator assured that, since taking office in the XLV Legislature, she has felt little accompanied by the members of the cherry party and, even, more violated than when she was not a popular representative.

Finally, she indicated that something she cannot tolerate in the “hypocrisy” that allegedly exists within the different opposition groups, but less so within Morena, so she made the decision to become an independent legislator now.

They say that better alone than badly accompanied, since I reached this 65th legislature I have felt little accompanied and more vulnerable than before I arrived here. I can't deal with the hypocrisy of the opposition, but I can't cope with Morena's hypocrisy. As of today I declared myself independent”, he wrote this Thursday, March 31.

The legislator's statement came minutes after she attempted to take the rostrum of the Chamber of Deputies, this in protest to Gabriel Quadri and his transphobic attitude against MP Salma Luévano by calling her “sir”.

However, this was not the only thing that happened, because during the event, the deputy forced the member of the National Action Party (PAN) bench, Santiago Creel Miranda, to withdraw from his place on the Board of Directors, taking his arm in arm; a situation that caused the representatives of Morena and the Labour Party (PT) to abandon the protest.

Faced with the attitude experienced in the Chamber of Deputies, the affected legislator, Salma Luévano, apologized to Creel Miranda on behalf of the LGBTQ community and the trans sector for the violence to which she was a party, so she assured that in no space should this be allowed.

For all of the above, although the session was suspended, Clemente García argued that she received little support from the Morenoites for her and her partner Luévano, so she decided to leave the party that led Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) to the Presidency of the Republic.

In response to his tweet, Gerardo Fernández Noroña sent encouragement to the now independent deputy, telling her that her speech was correct, since her defense is legitimate; however, he pointed to that no member of the Legislature can remove another member from the compound, since it is against the rules.

“Don't get angry or despair. Your intervention was hard and correct, but then you let yourself be carried away by passion. You can't just take out @g_quadri or any deputy. It's like @SantiagoCreelM explained it. And you shouldn't have touched it,” Noroña explained.

Beyond Clemente García's decision, Congressman Quadri was strongly questioned by his colleagues in the Lower House, considering that he disrespected legislator Luévano for which they demanded a public apology.

Fernández Noroña called him a “monumental jerk” because he offended a trans woman on the day of visibility of trans people; while the representative of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), Cynthia López, demanded a public apology for arguing that she disrespected the entire plenary and the Constitution.
