Colombian authorities announced the capture of a so-called 'invisible narco' from the criminal structure Clan del Golfo. He is a criminal who was responsible for taking cocaine out of the country without being detected for a long time.
According to the Attorney General's Office, Juan Camilo Molina Medina, alias Camilo, was one of the major articulators of the exit of cocaine hydrochloride along the coasts of Urabá Chocoano and Antioquia.
This subject was captured thanks to an operation carried out by the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, through the Specialized Directorate against Criminal Organizations, in a joint work with members of the DIJIN of the National Police.
The capture took place in the vicinity of a hotel located in the area known as Laureles, in the center of Medellin. There, according to investigations by the authorities, alias Camilo planned to hold a meeting with leaders of other criminal groups.
According to authorities, Juan Camilo Molina reportedly moved his place of residence in Apartadó to Medellín. His stay in the capital of Antioquia was allegedly more strategic for holding meetings with members of other illegal structures and closing alliances related to the sending of narcotics abroad.
With investigations carried out by the authorities, it was possible to establish that this 'invisible narco-trafficker', which for a long time was not targeted because the illegal work he was engaged in within the Gulf Clan was unknown, managed to send more than 15 tons of cocaine hydrochloride to the United States.
Capture for extradition purposes: Camilo would be sent to the North American country
It is noteworthy that Juan Camilo Molina is requested for extradition by the Eastern District Court of Texas, United States, on charges related to a crime concert and drug trafficking.
The international requirement refers to it as a high-value objective in the fight against transnational trafficking in illicit substances and makes it responsible for moving more than 15 tons of cocaine to Panama and the United States, in less than three years.
According to the United States authorities, alias Camilo is a decisive man in the criminal scaffolding of the Central Urabá and Efrén Vargas Gutierrez structures of the Gulf Clan.
The investigations carried out by the authorities of the North American country established that Juan Camilo Molina always remained in the shadow of the top leaders of the Gulf Clan to avoid detection by the authorities of both countries.
According to Colombian authorities, Juan Camilo Molina Medina was left at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office. Likewise, it was established that the Directorate of International Affairs will inform the United States Embassy in Colombia about the capture of this criminal who has a request for extradition so that the formalization of this procedure can be completed within the terms of the law.
