Ukraine announced that it was giving up all civilian evacuation corridors on Monday for fear of Russian “provocations”, before a new round of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev envoys in Turkey.
“Warning. Our intelligence services reported possible provocations by the occupants along the humanitarian corridors,” said Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk on Telegram.
“Therefore, for reasons of security for civilians, no humanitarian corridor will be opened today (Monday),” he added
Hours earlier, Vereshchuk herself had indicated that on Sunday 1,100 people were evacuated along two humanitarian corridors in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and said that it was “planned” that on Monday “evacuation work would continue in the city of Mariupol and open new humanitarian corridors in the Sumy region”.
On a daily basis, the authorities organize the exit routes from the most affected cities in Ukraine to allow civilians to be evacuated.
Ukraine repeatedly denounced Russian attacks in these corridors, especially around the besieged and devastated city of Mariupol (south).

Negotiations without progress
Russia and Ukraine have not made “significant progress” in negotiations to end the conflict at a time when both delegations are preparing for a new round of talks in Istanbul, Turkey, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said Monday.
“At the moment, we cannot see any significant progress or progress,” Peskov told the press.
However, he said it was “important” that it had been decided to continue the dialogues in person.
Peskov stated that delegations would arrive on Monday and that it was “unlikely” that talks would resume on the same day.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to host the negotiations in Istanbul during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
