
This Friday, March 25th, the coronation of Valeria Charris will be held in Barranquilla as queen of the Carnival of Barranquilla 2022, after almost two years without the realization of carnestolendas.
The show will be called 'Monarchy: Tradition and the Rebirth of Carnival' and will be given by Mónica Lindo and Juliette de Alba. The event, according to the organization, is the staging that will pay tribute to the natural leadership of the Kings of the Barranquilla Carnival.
The Sovereigns of the Festival will personify the indigenous, Spanish and African ethnic groups to remind us of the importance of brotherhood, inclusion, resilience and new opportunities. The staging has the participation of more than 400 artists on stage.
The coronation show has seven great scenes that begin with a historical journey since 1560 with the incursion of flamenco and the double pass, reaching 1713 in San Basilio de Palenque with the presentation of bullerengue, mapalé, black dance, drums from my land, bilanda and champeta. Then, triethnicity will hit the stage with rhythms such as cumbia, tropipop, Joeson and tropical.
The Dance of Scribble and the Birds add color and tradition, giving way to the awakening of Carnival with the inclusion of rhythms such as salsa, bachata and merengue. The coronation show features the participation of Ballet Puerta de Oro, Fundación Destellos, Fuerza Negra, Federmann Brito Artistic Foundation, Matuna Group, Nativos, Las Vitaminas, Afroquilla, Cumbiamba La Misma Vaina, the Barranquilla Cultural Corporation of Mónica Lindo, Estefania Caicedo Cultural Corporation, Luis Artistic Corporation Soto, Comparsa África Mía, Comparsa Torito in Carnaval, the Atlantic Wheelchair Basketball Team, the Voluminous Dance Group BAQ and the Rumbon de Las Nieves, group led by our King Momo Kevin Torres Salcedo, among others.
The coronation night will end with a super concert with the samarium singer and Latin Grammy Award winner Carlos Vives, who will pay tribute to all the women 'Curramberas', 'the prince of carnival' Checo Acosta great honoree at the Orchestra Festival, and 'the president of the champeta' Mr. Black
Queen Valeria will wear the creation 'Eclipse in the Swamp of Mallorquín', a tribute to the unstoppable city that grows and develops without limits.
