In an interview for the podcast La pelota you know about TUDN, the former Santos Laguna goalkeeper shared his analysis of the ideal candidate for the World Cup qualifiers.
As a sports analyst, he made it clear that Talavera is currently experiencing a better time than Ochoa. According to San Oswaldo, he put into balance the present that both are living in the Liga MX, so Sánchez pointed out that the blue-aired cancerbero should be the starter for the qualifiers and even for Qatar 2022.
“Tata Martino is very clear about who his favorite is, Memo Ochoa, but I do think that at the moment Memo Ochoa is not the best in Mexico's goal, for me Talavera's moment is better than Memo's”, he said.
The TUDN sports commentator clarified that his opinion is only an analytical question and that he would not speak from a personal level - this because of the controversy he experienced with Ochoa - so he shared the points where he sees Alfredo Talavera the strongest about Francisco Guillermo.
According to the opinion of Oswaldo Sánchez, he noticed that Tala looks “in need” of a World Cup in which he starts and comes out of the shadow of Memo.
“I try to be an analyst and I put myself in a very coherent way to give my comment. If I suddenly see Talavera playing in the Concachampions League being a fundamental factor for his team to win, and suddenly every weekend he makes a few saves, it makes me think that Talavera is skilled and in need of playing a World Cup.”
On the other hand, he argued:
“He has already played a World Cup but he hasn't started and he has already started, so I assure you, because I know Talavera, that he will fight what remains of here in the world cup to be able to fulfill his dream of being a World Cup player.
