Danish handball star Mikkel Hansen, one of the best players in the world, will be out in the coming months after suffering phlebitis and then pulmonary embolism, his club, Paris SG announced on Tuesday.

Operated last week in his country for a cartilage problem, Hansen “contracted phlebitis in his lower limb, followed by a pulmonary embolism on his return to France,” the entity specified.

PSG assured that the player is “out of danger”, but that he must follow a treatment based on anticoagulants for 4-6 months “incompatible with a high-level contact sport”.
