Quito, 21 Mar The Chilean airline Latam announced this Monday the start, from April 1, of its new direct route Quito-Bogotá, non-stop, and through it, the connection to the network of domestic and international destinations that the company operates from the Colombian airport of El Dorado. This international route will start with five weekly frequencies, which will take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. “The opening of the Quito-Bogotá route is evidence of our commitment to continue connecting Ecuadorians and promoting Ecuador in other international destinations,” said Mónica Fistrovic, executive director of the Latam subsidiary in Ecuador. Fistrovic was sure that this “will contribute to the stimulation of tourism between sister countries, as well as trade, production and other different objectives where connectivity is key”. On the other hand, the Minister of Tourism of Ecuador, Niels Olsen, said that his institution “works to improve national and international connectivity and with airlines as strategic allies” to recover the frequencies and routes that were operated before the covid-19 pandemic. “With this new direct route to Bogotá, we improved connectivity with our neighbor to the north by offering more options, more seats and better prices,” he said. Latam adds this route to its promotional network in different parts of the region and the world, which makes Ecuador visible as a tourist and commercial destination, with the spirit of offering “More Ecuador in the world, more world in Ecuador,” the company said in a statement. The Chilean company and its subsidiaries are the largest group of airlines in Latin America, with a presence in five domestic markets in the region: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, as well as international operations within Latin America and to Europe, the United States and the Caribbean.
