Putin proposes Nabiulina for another term at the head of the Russian Central Bank

Moscow, 18 Mar Russian President Vladimir Putin today presented the State Duma or Chamber of Deputies, the candidacy of the current governor of the Central Bank of Russia (BCR), Elvira Nabiulina, for another five-year term at the head of the regulatory body. The president of the Duma, Viacheslav Volodin, commissioned the respective parliamentary committee to include on the agenda of the meeting of the board of spokespersons, which will take place next Monday, the confirmation of Nabiulina in office, the Legislative said on its Telegram channel. Nabiulina, 58, has headed the BCR since 2013 and was previously an advisor to the Russian president (2012-2013) and Minister of Economic Development (200-2012). According to the Constitution of Russia, the appointment of the governor of the Central Bank must be approved by the State Duma, something that is taken for granted. According to the federal law regulating the activity of the BCR, the same person cannot hold the position of governor for more than three consecutive periods, so, unless legislative amendment, it will be the last term of Nabiúlina as head of the regulator.
