Madrid, 18 Mar The German Eintracht, Betis executioner last night, will be Barcelona's next stumbling block in the Europa League, in which if he overcomes the crossing he will meet the winner of the tie between English West Ham and French Lyon as a step prior to the final in Seville, in which the Barça would be local. After remaining as the sole representative of the Spanish League, after the elimination of Betis and Sevilla, both in extra time, the UEFA draw was generous with Xavi Hernández's team, who will also face the second leg matches in both the quarterfinals and semifinals at their stadium. Relegated to the Europa League as third in their group in the Champions League and after a first meeting with Naples, Barça got rid of Galatasaray last night in Istanbul, where Pedri and Aubameyang came back from a match that was put against them in five minutes, to continue as a great candidate for the title. To get hold of him, he will now have to beat Eintracht, who last night needed to reach overtime to leave Betis out, eliminated with an own-goal in the last minute of it. Qualified for the fourth in their group and unbeaten in this competition, the Germans of Eintracht are in the middle of their league table, having linked their second straight win last weekend against Bochum (2-1), thanks in large part to the solvency of their goalkeeper Kevin Trapp. The other quarterfinals match on the same side of Barcelona's draw will be played by the English from West Ham and the French from Olympique Lyon, who eliminated Sevilla and Porto, respectively. David Moyes' team had to make it to extra time to stop Sevilla's journey in their fetish-competition, in the most painful way this year in which the club will host the final. He did so with a goal by Ukrainian Andriy Yarmolenko (m.111) in tribute to his country and to bring his club back to this stage after 40 years. Lyon won by the minimum in Do Dragao and last night's draw at home (1-1) gave them the passport to quarters. In today's draw, again with the collaboration of former Sevilla goalkeeper Andrés Paolop, Barça eluded a possible semifinal match with Leipzig, the other German team still in contention, and Italian Atalanta, the most dangerous priori rivals to face in a Champions League match. Eliminated from the Champions League, Leipzig beat Real Sociedad in the play-off and benefited from the exclusion from the Spartak Moscow competition decided by UEFA to enter this stage, which Atalanta arrived at after getting rid of Bayer Leverkusen last night. The winner of Leipzig-Atalanta will face the winner of the match between Portuguese Braga and the Scottish Rangers in the semifinals at home. The Portuguese, who were runners-up in the 2010-2011 Europa League, needed penalties against the Moldovan Sheriff to get into the second round, which they solved with a win at home (2-0) and a draw last night in Monaco (1-1). After striking the bell by eliminating German Dortmund in the previous round, the Rangers had the tie on track against the Red Star in Belgrade. He had won (3-0) in the first leg and despite losing last night (2-1) he is still ahead in a competition that he said goodbye to a year ago in the round of 16. CHIEF WMO/GMO
