Aníbal Torres: “I have never addressed Karelim López directly or by third parties”

The president of the Council of Ministers asked that it be said who is the alleged “emissary” to whom Karelim López would refer to as the person who would exert pressure for her to change her statements.

The president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, said on Tuesday that he will consider initiating legal action against the lobbyist and aspiring an effective collaborator, Karelim López, who reportedly told the Prosecutor's Office that he had received pressure to change his statements by the premier through a document sent by an “emissary”.

Upon leaving the Executive Headquarters, Torres assured that this allegation is false and that it would be intended to weaken the cabinet of ministers. He also mentioned that he is concerned that the Public Prosecutor's Office still does not know who the person who tried to influence the person under investigation is.

“If she has stated that, the first thing the prosecutor had to do is force her to have this lady (Karlim Lopez) say who is that person close to me. I think it has not done so and that is acting irresponsibly in the exercise of the fiscal function,” he told the press.

“There must be a lot of people behind this. The question is who funds this? The goal, of course, is to weaken the cabinet. Because if he is making these false accusations to the president of the Council of Ministers, what is being sought is to weaken the cabinet in order to reinforce its desire to vacancy”, he added.

In addition, he questioned whether Karelim López, whom he called a “criminal”, has so much power for the media to take his statements “as if they were a real issue.”

HE DENIED HAVING ADDRESSED K. LOPEZ

Earlier, Torres stated that he has never addressed Karelim López directly or indirectly.

I have never addressed her directly or by third parties. The Prosecutor's Office must clarify these false allegations,” Torres said.

The slop of coup drivers does not know what to invent to justify the vacancy. I don't know Karelim L., I have never addressed her directly or by third parties. The Prosecutor's Office must clarify these false allegations,” he also said on his Twitter account.

STATEMENT BY K. LOPEZ

On Monday night, two media outlets reported that Karelim López had denounced, in the extension of his demonstration before prosecutor Luz Taquire, pressure from the Government. In addition, he would have said that he received the visit of an “emissary” from the president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, on Tuesday, March 8.

López reportedly said that an “emissary” of Prime Minister Aníbal Torres had handed him “the draft of a document, urging her to denounce prosecutor Luz Taquire and senior prosecutor Rafael Vela.”

The 'emissary' of Premier Torres, according to Karelim López, promised her that if she denounced the prosecutors of money laundering, her case would go to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, where in about six months she would be left out of the investigations,” tweeted the weekly journalist Hildebrandt in his thirteen, Américo Zambrando.

The Twitter account of Panamericana TV's Panorama program adds that, in the document stating that he should denounce prosecutor Taquire and Rafael Vela, he also asked him to resign his lawyer, Caesar Nakasaki. The document would be delivered to the prosecutor on March 15.

It should be noted that Karelim López is being investigated by the prosecution in preliminary investigations into the cases Provias-Puente Tarata, Petro-Peru and a suspected falsified COVID-19 test.
