Leading teams from around the world and from host nation Germany were present at the press conference as the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships Hamburg 2019 presented by comdirect and ALDI Nord kicked off on Friday.
Number one seeds Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway, Alix Klineman and April Ross of the United States and Brandie Wilkerson of Canada spoke of their excitement ahead of the biggest world championships in history.
Then five teams from Germany took to the stage to answer questions from the 2009 world champion Julius Brink inside the Red Bull Beach Arena.
Julius Thole/Clemens Wickler, Nils Ehlers/Lars Flüggen, Jonathan Erdmann/Sven Winter, Karla Borger/Julia Sude and Kim Behrens and Cinja Tillmann all hoped to have a successful championships in front of a packed home crowd.
The players were also joined by Beach Majors CEO Hannes Jagerhofer, Andy Grote, Senator for Internal Affairs and Sport of the State of Hamburg and René Hecht – President of the German Volleyball Federation.
The action began at 10am CET on the outside courts before the Red Bull Beach Arena’s first game began at 1pm CET.
