(ATR) Public sales of tickets to Turin Olympics are underway as of November 4. Organizers of the 2006 Winter Games have about 1.5 million tickets for sale and they say 35% are already committed to National Olympic Committees, sponsors and international federations.
In the European Union, purchases can be made through the www.torino2006.org/tickets web site or through the branches of Sanpaolo bank, a sponsor of the Games, or through outlets of TicketOne, the Italian operation of Ticketmaster, which handled sales for the Athens Games.
Outside the EU, tickets can be purchased through the sales agents appointed NOC?s.
Over half of the tickets will cost between 20 and 50 euros and packages of tickets called Carnets will be sold at several price levels that allow spectators to follow a certain sport or team.
Top prices for figure skating are 300 euros, 350 for hockey and 600 euros for opening and closing ceremonies.
TOROC has set a revenue target of 75 million euros from ticket sales, third behind broadcast rights and sponsorships.
The first round of sales ends December 15 with the next round opening in January 2005.
