Nike Canada has become the official supplier of high performance sporting goods for the 2010 Olympics. That means the company gets the right to produce the high profile Team Canada replica hockey jerseys .
Nike also has rights to the real thing – the actual Team Canada hockey jerseys. As a long-time world and Olympic powerhouse, that should translate into big sales . Nike Canada and VANOC made the announcement at a news conference on Friday.
As an official supplier, Nike gets to market and promote high performance sporting goods for 2010. It also will work with the Canadian Olympic teams for 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Sochi 2014 Nabs Aeroflot as Sponsor
Travel to the 2014 host city should get easier soon -- Aeroflot says it will open direct routes into Sochi as part of its tier one sponsorship announced this week.
The deal is said to be worth $100 million. It is Sochi’s fifth top level sponsor.
The airline joins telecommunication companies Rostelcom and Megafon, oil company Rosneft and banking entity Sberbank in Sochi’s tier one group.

Infront Sports and Media also is cutting the number of its advertising packages from 14 to seven in what it calls a new, streamlined sponsorship platform.
Infront markets 40 of the 69 FIS World Cup ski events on a collective basis through its agreements with 12 national ski associations and a number of local organizing committees.
Deal Means Many Choices for 2010
Olympic fans in Canada will be able to choose from radio, television, print and live web streaming as part of a deal announced this week.
Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium and 22 Canadian companies announced their plans for “customized cross-platform media packages” for the 2010 Winter Olympics Wednesday in Vancouver. The dedicated website, www.CTVOlympics.ca / www.RDSolympiques.ca, will feature live streaming of all Olympic events.
The team will include some 140 English and French broadcasters from sports, news and entertainment. More than 30 Olympians with an aggregate 27 medals will round out coverage that will include blogs and other special reports. It is said to be the biggest media commitment in Canadian history.
Seventeen of the 22 companies are already official Games partners. Air Canada, Canadian Pacific Railway Limited, COLD-FX, McDonald’s of Canada, RONA and Samsung Canada are among the companies involved in the packages.
Financial commitments range from $100,000 to multi-million dollar deals. Everlast will provide equipment and apparel clothing for USA Boxing through the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. (USA Boxing)
USA Boxing Extends Partnership with Everlast
For the first time, USA Boxing will don uniforms by Everlast when the team appears at the 2009 AIBA world championships in Milan, Italy, next month.
An agreement this week sees apparel added to the sponsorship. Everlast will provide both equipment and clothing to USA Boxing after signing a four-year deal with the NGB.
The agreement runs through the 2012 Summer Olympics.
