(ATR) Ahead of next September, 90,000 temporary jobs will be filled to work in services needed for the Olympic Games.
The organizing committee will work with Manpower Brazil to screen candidates and offer contracts that are three, six, and nine months long.
Five thousand of those jobs will be working directly for Rio 2016, and of the 85,000 jobs outside the organizing committee a majority fall in the categories of food and drink, hotel services, cleaning services, transportation, and ticketing at Olympic venues.
"We are looking for a high diversity of people coming, and of the 5,000 organizing committee jobs, 70 percent are leadership and people with some experience in managing services," Henirque Gonzalez, head of human resources at Rio 2016, said to Around the Rings.
"The legacy is to give opportunity in this moment of Brazil, and prepare more people for the service industry and to work in other areas."
Gonzalez says the current economic market in the country is allowing the recruitment of both people who are looking for their first positions, and those "in transition." There is no specific demographic the organizing committee and Manpower are looking for, except for certain positions that require certain technical skills as a prerequisite.
Manpower Brazil chief executive Riccardo Barberis said that the contract is the largest ever for the company and is an opportunity to bring a positive legacy to the country by associating with a global sporting event.
The first contracts will be awarded in January, and all contracts are valued at between $400 and $1575 a month.
Applicants can now visit the website created by Manpower Brazil to submit their resume for contractors to view ahead of the hiring process.
