IPC Athletics Host
Doha, Qatar will host the 2015 International Paralympic Committee Athletics World Championships.
The two sides signed the agreement Friday in a special ceremony in Doha. Mr. Hassan Al Ansari, the Secretary General of Qatar Paralympic Committee and Mr. Ryan Montgomery, Athletics Sport Senior Manager of the IPC were present to sign the agreement.
"We are proud to host the IPC Athletics World Championships in 2015 because we have a duty and commitment to people with disabilities who seek to excel in sport and thereby inspire others," said Sheikh Saoud Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, secretary general of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
This will be the second time the championships will be held outside of Europe, the last being in 2011 in New Zealand.
"Qatar has always been a pioneer in promoting sports for differently-abled people and the World Championships next year will take our commitment to a new level."
FINA President Wants 2020 World Swimming Champs in Sochi
The president of the International Swimming Federation says Russia's Olympic city of Sochi would be the ideal location for the 2020 world short course championships.
Julio Maglione, also an International Olympic Committee member who attended the Winter Games last month, said Thursday he couldn't think of a better venue for the event than the Black Sea resort.
"We were at the Olympics in Sochi," he said. "The best Olympic Games in history were held there. Amazing competitions, an excellent team. Sochi could be an excellent place to hold the 2020 world championships," the Uruguayan added.
There is currently no 25m pool among the six coastal arenas, which were used for hockey, speedskating and figure skating during the Games.
Russia is already slated to host next year's world aquatics championships in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, at the venues built for last year's world student games.
The next host city for the short course worlds, which are held every two years, is Doha in December, with Windsor, Canada, slated for 2016.

New Russian Ice Hockey Coach
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation appointed Oleg Znarok as head coach of the men’s national ice hockey team.
Previous coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov stepped down after the Russian team’s disappointing result in the Sochi Olympics. The host nation finished 5th amid expectations of a gold medal.
Znarok, a Latvian, is the head coach of Kontinental Hockey League team Dynamo Moscow. He will coach the Russians at the 2014 Ice Hockey World Championships in May.
"After a round of negotiations, we have decided to ask Oleg Znarok to take over as the head coach of the Russian ice hockey team", Russian Hockey Federation president Vladislav Tretyak said in a statement.
Znarok is a two-time KHL champion with Dynamo Moscow.
