By the Book: 2016 Olympic Wrestling Venues

(ATR) All four cities will have wrestling venues located less than 10 km from the Olympic Village for the 2016 Olympics. In this installment of By the Book, Around the Rings presents a look at the venues planned by Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo for the sport of wrestling.

Madrid

• 9,000 Capacity

• $4.4 million for temporary construction

• 6 km from Olympic Village

• Currently used as IFEMA (event venue)

Rio de Janeiro

• OTC – Hall 3

• 10,000 Capacity

• $195.2 million for temporary construction

• 4 km from Olympic Village

• 30 km from IOC Hotel

• Construction has not started

Tokyo

• Tokyo Big Sight Hall A

• 10,000 Capacity

• $29 million for temporary construction (Tokyo Big Sight also will be used for fencing and taekwondo)

• 2 km from Olympic Village

• 7 km from IOC Hotel

• Currently used as an exhibition center
