Prominent men and women cueists will hold the Bahrain flag in the billiards competition during the Fourth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG), set to commence at the end of this month in Incheon, in South Korea.

The billiards team consists of eight quests, including four men and four women lined up for their respective competitions during the eight-day Games, scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 6.

Bahrain’s men’s team consists of Mohammed Ali Abbas, Saleh Ahmed Saleh, Ali Hassan Salman and Abdulla Isa, while the women’s team features Jumaina Yasser Al Dossary, Nahla Al Sinni, Fatma Rajab and Mai Yasser Al Dossary.

Bahrain Billiards and Snooker Association president Khalid Janahi said both the teams have been training twice a day under their coach Saleh Mohammed of Afghanistan at Al Najma Club premises in Juffair.

They will enter an extensive training programme in the coming few days in order to improve the players’ overall readiness ahead of the Games.

Janahi said that the Asian Indoor Games is a golden opportunity for the Bahraini cueists to have more confidence and experience, especially with top players from Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Kuwait and the UAE taking part.

The Incheon Games will be the first OCA Games to combine the Asian Indoor Games and the Asian Martial Arts Games. It Provides a large-scale regional competitive arena for a wide range of categories such as Muay Thai, dance sport, billiards, futsal and electronic gaming over 100 events.

Featuring nine sports, the 4th AIMAG will be a high-profile test event for the 17th Asian Games in Incheon the following year.

Nine venues will be specially prepared for the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, along with an Athletes’ Village and planned recruitment of 3,000 volunteers for the event.Venues include seven existing and two new for swimming and futsal, besides five for training. The opening and closing ceremonies will both take place at Samsan World Gymnasium.

The Athletes’ Village consists of local university halls of residence, where 600 vehicles will be made available for transportation.

More than 3,000 have been working as volunteers as recruitment for the Games began in September last year. The main media centre is located at Songdo Convensia, MMC for the Asian Games 2014.
