Around the Rings content is now available on Android mobile devices. Around the Rings -- the #1 publication for news about the Olympics for 20 years -- launched its application in the Android Market, Sunday, April 3, in conjunction with the SportAccord Convention underway in London.
The Around the Rings app provides readers with select premium news categories from AroundtheRings.com, including a dedicated category for news from SportAccord, the annual gathering of sport federation leaders.
Other categories include London 2012, Olympic Newsdesk, Sponsor Spotlight, and Press Releases. Other ultra-premium content, such as Bidding for the Games and other categories, will still be subscription-based and available only by email or on the website.
"For the last 20 years, Around the Rings has led the way in utilizing new media to cover the Olympic Movement," Publisher Sheila Scott Hula said.
"Since we started in 1992, we have consistently adapted quickly to new forms of content delivery -- from print to website to email, and now to our own mobile application. Our readers generally do not spend a lot of time at their desks, and they need to know what's happening, as soon as it happens. Now they won't miss a thing."
The app is free for all Android handheld and tablet devices, which includes HTC, Motorola and Samsung.
The Around the Rings application launches on the start of the SportAccord Convention in London where thousands of readers will have the convenience of accessing Around the Rings’ content from their mobile devices.
Around the Rings Editor and Founder Ed Hula says, "We look forward to developing this application even further. We have a few more exciting surprises in store for users -- developments that are sure to continue to build on our reputation as the leader in news about the Olympics."
Around the Rings launched its Android app first because Android is the fastest-growing mobile operating system among consumers in the U.S., ahead of RIM Blackberry and Apple iOS.
iPhone users will soon be able to download the app on their respective platforms.
AppedOn, who specializes in mobile app development for Android and iPhone devices, developed the app for Around the Rings.
"AppedOn believes that every business can use apps to build client relationships, automate business procedures and increase sales," Laura Davis, Chief Operating Officer for AppedOn, said.
