Several Mexican Para athletes and Mexican Paralympic Committee (CPM) staff have helped collect supplies for the victims of the earthquake that hit the state of Morelos on 19 September.
Double swimming Paralympic champion Nely Miranda was among the Para athletes who have been assisting the victims.
"The Paralympic family’s act of solidarity is very important because it shows our unity, strength and humility in the face of adversity," she said. "I feel so proud of being Mexican. I am sure that we will stand back on our feet."
CPM President Liliana Suarez said: "We distributed clothes, food [and] water for the people who lost their homes and toys for the kids. There is no one better to inspire them to move forward than the Para athletes themselves, all of whom are inspirational examples of that.
"I am so proud of every Para athlete and person who took part in this initiative, even if their families and friends were not directly affected by this tragedy. This is the minimum we can do as human beings."
International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Andrew Parsons added: "It was inspiring to see the Mexican Para athletes volunteering to get water and food for the victims of the earthquake in Morelos. It shows us that they are not only fantastic athletes on the field but also great people off the field."
Last Friday (22 September), the IPC launched the #FuerzaMexico global fundraising campaign to support UNICEF’s humanitarian efforts in Mexico following last week’s devastating earthquake.
"The whole Paralympic Movement is united in our support for the Mexican people at this difficult time. Following Tuesday’s terrible tragedy, we are all committed to doing what we can to help the people affected by this earthquake," said Parsons.

Para atletas mexicanos realizan trabajo voluntario para ayudar víctimas de terremoto
Numerosos Para atletas mexicanos y staff del Comité Paralímpico Mexicano (CPM) han ayudado recolectar provisiones para las víctimas del terremoto que golpeó al estado de Morelos el pasado 19 de septiembre.
La doble campeona Paralímpica Nely Miranda se encontraba entre los Para atletas que asistieron a las víctimas.
"Este acto de solidaridad de la familia Paralímpica es muy importante porque muestra unidad, fuerza y humildad ante la adversidad".
"Me siento orgullosa de ser Mexicana. Estoy segura que siempre nos levantaremos".
Liliana Suárez, Presidente del CPM, dijo: "Distribuimos ropa, comida y agua para aquellas personas que perdieron sus hogares, como así también juguetes para los chicos. No hay nadie mejor para inspirarlos a salir adelante que los propios Para atletas, todos quienes son inspiradores ejemplos de ello."
"Estoy orgullosa de cada Para atleta y persona que participó de esta iniciativa, incluso si sus familias y amigos no fueron afectados directamente por la tragedia. Es lo mínimo que podemos hacer como seres humanos".
Andrew Parsons, Presidente del Comité Paralímpico Internacional (IPC), agregó: "Fue inspirador ver a los Para atletas mexicanos realizando trabajos de voluntario para conseguir agua y comida para las víctimas del terremoto en Morelos. Nos demuestra que no solo son fantásticos atletas dentro del campo de juego sino también grandes personas fuera de él".
El viernes pasado (22 de septiembre), el IPC y la Fundación Agitos lanzaron la campaña mundial #FuerzaMexico de recaudación de fondos para apoyar los esfuerzos humanitarios que UNICEF está realizando en México tras el devastador terremoto de la semana pasada.
"Todo el Movimiento Paralímpico está unido en apoyo al pueblo mexicano en este momento difícil. Después de la terrible tragedia del martes, todos estamos comprometidos a hacer lo que podamos para ayudar a las personas afectadas por este terremoto", dijo Parsons.
