This afternoon, the municipality of Breña took the decision to evict parents who spent the night in front of the Hospital Del Niño, waiting for an appointment or for the medical reports of their children when they are hospitalized.

A great concern are these citizens, who do not have the necessary means to stay in a hostel or simply go to the shelters implemented by the hospital, as they assure they do not have for daily tickets.

Although the measure has been taken peacefully and parents have agreed to leave the streets, they still feel bad about this situation that keeps them away from the hospital and the possibility of getting an appointment for their little ones.

The municipality's decision is made, after a public ordinance this measure is carried out and instead of leaving the area empty, they have decided to place masetas along the front of the busy hospital.

“Since 8:00 in the morning we have been persuading the gentlemen who are on the street, in the tents and many of them have already retired. We are placing ornamental pots, we are cleaning the street, we are recovering public roads and apart from that the pandemic does not end and this generated more agglomeration,” said Gustavo Montoya, manager of the municipality of Breña for ATV.

He also said that it is important for parents to be aware that they cannot invade public spaces, which is why they give them a week to leave peacefully.

“We will continue to persuade them, we have given them a week to retire, so next Monday this has to be beautiful. We're bringing these cute pots and we're going to decorate this whole area. It must be borne in mind that this is the public road and as the responsibility of the municipality we are going to evacuate the road. We are persuading them to leave the good way, to take them to shelters or to their homes, we have even taken several people with our units to districts such as Ancón to Ventanilla, El Agustino. We are ordering this block because it was quite a long time and now is the time,” said the mayor official.

Municipality of Breña give them a week to leave the streets of the front of the busy hospital.

AFFECTED PARENTS

Faced with this situation, dozens of families are worried that they do not know what will happen to them, since some do not live in the capital, but have come from the interior of the country.

“I am going to the hostel for a single day, but I don't have the financial means to return to Piura, I am from Paita. The ticket costs me 120 soles, but I don't have that money. If someone can help me, it would be good,” said one mother.

The ATV report mentioned that the hospital has made two types of shelters available. One that allows parents to spend the night without problem while their children are being hospitalized, and another in which only children can be there while they wait for an appointment.

It's not that we don't want to leave, we want to be close to our children. Now they're going to take us away and I don't count for the tickets. I have come here with my other children because I have nowhere to leave them either, I will not be wandering the streets with them,” said the mother of the family who is afraid to leave this place and be close to her child who is cared for in the hospital in Breña.
