Teófilo Gutiérrez and the 'darling' for Miguel Ángel Borja: “You screwed up the qualifier”

Although Borja was provoked by Teo, he scored the draw in the match between Junior and Deportivo Cali for the BetPlay League

On Saturday, Deportivo Cali and Junior Barranquilla drew 1-1 at the Palmaseca Stadium, for matchday 15 of the BetPlay League. The scorers were Kevin Velasco and Miguel Ángel Borda, respectively.

In the first half there were no goals. About the middle of the second half, Cali scored after a left-handed shot by Kevin Velasco inside the box, following a right-hand screening by Michael Ortega. The second goal came when the match was ending: Miguel Ángel Borja headed into the box a ball that ended up in the back of the net.

On the other hand, Teófilo Gutiérrez was replaced in the 58th minute by Michael Ortega. As the striker of the Caleño squad was leaving the court, he shouted several words to Miguel Ángel Borja.

Teo Gutiérrez told Borja: “You screwed up the tie,” among other words. In the broadcast of the match, only what the Cali attacker said was evident, but it was not shown if the Junior striker answered him anything.

It is worth remembering that Colombia beat Venezuela 1-0 with a penalty goal by James Rodríguez at Cachamay Stadium in a match valid for matchday 18 and the last of the South American Qualifiers to Qatar 2022. Despite the victory of the 'coffee' team, they could not qualify for the World Cup repechage, as it depended on Peru losing at home to Paraguay, something that did not happen because the team led by Ricardo Gareca won 2-0 at the Estadio Nacional.

Before the last double date, the national team had seven matches without scoring a goal. These were directly affected by the direct pass or the option to go to the World Cup repechage. In most matches, the Junior attacker had minutes of play, who did not fulfill his task of scoring so many, although he was the team's goalscorer.

After this match for the BetPlay League, Cali won 13 points and it is practically impossible for him to qualify for the next stage of the rented, since he is penultimate; while the Junior reached 23 units and continues to dream amid his irregularity after placing fifth.

On the next date, the sixteenth, Junior will play in home condition. It will be next Saturday, April 16 against Atletico Bucaramanga, at 8:15pm, Win +.

Deportivo Cali, for its part, will play as a visitor the Cali classic against America, on Sunday, April 17, at 6:10pm, Win +.

Bear in mind: the team led by Rafael Dudamel will face Corinthians on Wednesday, April 13 as a visitor and the Barranquilleros will receive Fluminense at the Metropolitano for the Copa Sudamericana.
