A week after the revocation of the mandate consultation of the president of Mexico, the head of the Ministry of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, promoted this democratic exercise in the states of Coahuila and Sonora. Similarly, the Mexican politician pointed out that he is not afraid of the sanctions that the National Electoral Institute (INE) might impose on him, since he had the authorization of Andrés Manuel López Obrador to promote in the northern states the plebiscite that he plans to execute next Sunday, April 10.

It was at various public events that Adán Augusto invited citizens to participate in the democratic exercise of the Mandate Revocation; during his visit to Sonora he was accompanied by the governor of the state Alfonso Durazo, as well as the president of CEN de Morena, Mario Delgado. Also present were the governor of the state of Tabasco, Carlos Manuel Merino, the Undersecretary for Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, and various state cabinet officials as well as mayors and militant deputies of the cherry party.

“In Coahuila, the democratic dawn begins on April 10, because I have no doubt that here Coahuila will say 'you are not alone Andrés Manuel López Obrador',” said Adán Augusto López.

Adán Augusto López also pointed out that he was invited to those northern states of the Mexican Republic to discuss the issue of the Electricity Reform of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, however, he avoided talking about this modification in order to disseminate the exercise of the Mandate Revocation.

“The truth is that I am not going to talk about the Electricity Reform, we are going to support the movement for Sonorans and Mexicans to demonstrate to the world on April 10 that we are able to support the best President in the modern history of Mexico,” said the head of the Ministry of the Interior.

In addition, the secretary of the interior noted that the president of Mexico warned him about the possible sanctions that the National Electoral Institute (INE) could impose on him, however, Augusto López assured that if in any of the excesses of the INE they chose to dismiss him from his position, he would stand on the corner of Pino Suárez and Niños Héroes streets to say that it was an honor to have him run to support Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The head of the Ministry of the Interior launched himself against the National Electoral Institute (INE) and assured that a reform initiative will be presented in this area in which all those who serve as electoral authorities will be delegated to their posts because, from their perspective, “Mexico will be the first country in the world where the people democratically choose at the polls those who are going to conduct the next elections, it will be a direct and secret vote by Mexicans to give us the electoral authority that we deserve.”

Adán Augusto López also affirmed that Mexico has changed and that democracy and citizen participation are here to stay since the Mexican people are standing next to Andrés Manuel López Obrador, whom he described as a “transforming president.”

The democratic exercise is envisaged in the Federal Law on the Revocation of Mandate promulgated in September last year, however, it has caused great controversy among citizens as President Andrés Manuel López Obrador himself is promoting it, for which reason the opposition has accused the president of promoting a “permanent campaign”.

A week after the revocation of mandate consultation, different figures from Mexican politicians have expressed their position on the exercise democratic, even calling for not participating in it. For their part, those who support President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's proposal have been awarded different sanctions by the National Electoral Institute (INE) including the withdrawal of any kind of propaganda that promotes citizen consultation.
