A man lost a foot after stepping on an explosive in the Venezuelan state of Apure

A peasant from the Venezuelan state of Apure - on the border with Colombia - lost his left foot when he stepped on an explosive device installed, according to the strategic operational commander, Domingo Hernández Lárez, on Tuesday, for alleged “Colombian narco-terrorists”.

“As a result of stepping on an explosive device installed by Colombian narco-terrorists in our territory, a humble peasant, who traveled in his daily work through the countryside, lost his left foot, being helped by members of the FANB (Bolivarian National Armed Forces),” Hernández wrote in his Twitter account.

The tweet was accompanied by images showing a man lying on a stretcher with the end of his leg bandaged.

In February, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López reported that at least eight people died in Venezuela due to the detonation of anti-personnel mines installed in Apure by armed groups originating in the Andean country, although he did not detail in what period of time these civilians died.

On Tuesday, Hernández reported that the country's authorities dismantled, also in Apure, a camp in which “war material” used by “Colombian narco-terrorists” was hidden.

According to the military high command, the operation was carried out following the orders of the dictator of the Caribbean country, Nicolás Maduro, to continue fighting irregular groups, as well as defusing “improvised” explosives and traps set by gang members seeking to “attack” Venezuelans.

“Following orders from Commander-in-Chief Nicolás Maduro, FANB explosivists continue to fight tancol groups, defusing improvised explosives and traps set by Colombian drug trafficking in Apure to threaten the lives, freedom and dignity of Venezuelans,” Hernández explained on the social network.

“Tancol” is an acronym invented by the Venezuelan regime that does not refer to any specific gang and with which officials refer to “armed Colombian drug traffickers terrorists”.
