Mexico will host the United States this Thursday, March 24 to complete matchday 12 of the Octagonal Final, with which it will seek to get its pass to the Qatar 2022 World Cup and achieve its eighth consecutive World Cup qualification.

To do this, the team led by Gerardo Martino will have to break two negative streaks against the North American team. First the three defeats in a row that he accumulates between Nations League, Gold Cup and qualifying, but also the 13 years that the Tricolor has not defeated the United States at the Estadio Azteca.

Because Mexico is in third place in the standings and its passage to the World Cup is still at stake, a historic defeat against the Stars and Stars team would put Miguel Herrera's name on the table and make it more so stronger than ever to replace the Tata.

According to Rafa Ramos through a detailed column on ESPN, this possibility has already been among the possibilities of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) for several weeks, so despite having come out with a good harvest of points on the last FIFA date, his place in the Mexican National Team is not insured.

Losing a fourth time against the United States, also in a row, would put him “back in Argentina” and Miguel Herrera would be ready to take over, since he would have even been notified that he was ready, to the extent that he was asked to be composed of his personality.

According to these statements by the proven ESPN commentator, Tata Martino's continuity in the Tricolor is in serious danger and would depend on the next result against the United States, because although it would not yet be out of the World Cup if it loses, it would come with very high pressure to the last two commitments against Honduras and El Salvador.

Miguel Herrera as Mexico coach spent only a year and a half, in which he accumulated 19 wins, 10 draws and seven losses, with a Gold Cup in his record and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil led.

Unfortunately for the interests of the Mexican strategist, his stay at the helm of the Tri was hastily culminated by a clash with Christian Martinoli, just after winning a controversial Gold Cup in 2015 that brought him all kinds of criticism of his person and of the football of his national team.

For this reason, one of the main requests of the FMF would be to control the temperament of the Piojo, since he established himself as one of the most passionate coaches in Mexican football and one of the most impulsive.
