The renowned producer and organizer of Ukrainian esports competitions, WePlay Esports, launched an online tournament platform called WePlay Compete under the incentive of “Play for Ukraine”. Users will be able to donate their prizes, once a week, to charitable foundations that support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the moment it includes competitions for CS:GO, League of Legends, Dota 2, Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7, Street Fighter V and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. According to what they explained, the initiative will continue until Russia stops its invasion in the neighboring country. The platform is open to everyone, except for both Russia and Belarus.
The esports industry has been no exception in terms of the impact of the war. Among many cases of donations and new regulations, producers such as ESL and BLAST banning the participation of teams from esports organizations with links to the Russian government. Such was the case with Gambit Esports and Virtus.pro, who had no choice but to allow their campuses to participate without direct affiliations with them.
In addition, the beginning of the armed conflict led to a large number of teams around the world publicly expressing their support for Ukraine through social media.

“As a company that has its roots in Ukraine, we want to support our country in these terrible times,” adding: “Through our initiative, any esports fan can support Ukraine and contribute to our future victory,” said Oleksii Nogin, Tournament Director at WePlay Holding.
They not only organized this proposal, but also cut relations and concluded trade agreements with companies from Russia and Belarus. After the initial impact of the Russian government's decision, the country continues to generate reaction from the rest of the world that reaches even the gaming and esports sectors.
