Senate President Olga Sánchez Cordero accepted that during her time as Secretary of the Interior she maintained differences with former Legal Counsel to the Presidency of the Republic, Julio Scherer, although she said that the text published by the latter over the weekend, accusing her of having established a de facto alliance with the Attorney General, Alejandro Gertz Manero, has some inaccuracies and said that at some point she will reveal that information.
Although at first he denied making statements about the allegations against him to “not fall into the game” of provocation, Sánchez Cordero was questioned on this issue during the inauguration of Felipe Ángeles International Airport, where he finally accepted: “We had quite a few differences, it was obvious that we had them. The reality of things is that there are some inaccuracies and at some point I will say what they were.”
Regarding Scherer's public accusations against the former Minister of the Interior and the current Attorney General of the Republic, Sánchez Cordero considered that these differences were aired at an inopportune time. However, he clarified that for now he will not enter the debate as his attention is devoted to working for the transformation of Mexico.
On Saturday, a text was published in which Julio Scherer accused that both Sánchez Cordero and Gertz Manero used their political power to orchestrate an investigation against them as a personal vengeance, assuring that the then head of Segob could never accept that the tasks of the agency in her charge would be limited.

Scherer explained in the public text that Sánchez Codero presented “a series of fabulations regarding my relationship with firms such as Rivera Gaxiola, Kalloi, Fernández, Del Castillo, Quevedo, Lagos and Machuca, as well as the law firm Araujo, González, Peimbert, Robledo and Carrancá Abogados, among some others.”
With this public letter, Julio Scherer Ibarra reverted the leaks that place him as an extortionist from his functions as former Legal Counsel to the Presidency in relevant cases and accused that these implications were armed by the former Secretary of the Interior in alliance with the Attorney General of the Republic.
Following this publication, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that his government will not intervene in the accusations made by Julio Scherer against Olga Sánchez Cordero, president of the Senate, and the Attorney General, Alejandro Gertz Manero.
López Obrador said at his morning conference on Monday that this controversy falls within the judicial sphere, in addition to ensuring that his presidential agenda prioritizes other issues: “We don't want to participate in that.”
“Tell them that this has to do with courts, with public prosecution, with courts and we are not going to get into those differences (...) The president is busy with other matters and I have to prioritize.”
However, weeks earlier, President López Obrador acknowledged that the departure of Sánchez Cordero from the Government and later the release of the former Legal Counsel, was due to differences between them. That is why he opted for one of his closest ones, the then governor of Tabasco, Adán Augusto López Hernandez.
In recent weeks, in different areas of political analysis, it was reported that the Attorney General's Office was building a judicial encirclement against people close to Julio Scherer, who is presumed to have operated politically to stop relevant judicial cases in exchange for alleged payments. The former Legal Counsel said that he published this text to give his version of the facts because he assured that his family is being affected.
