Tegucigalpa, 17 Mar Argentinian Hernán Medina was announced Thursday as the new coach of Motagua, replacing his compatriot, naturalized Honduran, Diego Vázquez, who led the club for eight years. “FC Motagua would like to inform its great fans and sports press that this day our Board of Directors has taken the decision to hire the services of Professor Hernán Esteban Medina,” said the Honduran sports institution on the social network Twitter. Vazquez was separated from Motagua on matchday seven of the Clausura tournament and after the team was eliminated in the semifinal of the Concacaf Champions League by the Seattle Sounders of the United States. In the Clausura tournament, Motagua, which in the last three matches has been led by coach César 'Nene' Obando, who has been in charge of the club's minor leagues, is fourth with fifteen points, four less than the leader Olimpia. Medina is expected to arrive next week in Tegucigalpa to take over Motagua, the second club in fans and most titles won, after Olimpia, which has Argentine Pablo Lavallén as helmsman. As a footballer, Medina played in Belgrano de Cordoba, Boca Juniors, Olimpo, Deportivo Maipu, Gimnasia and Fencing.
