Los Angeles, 15 Mar US producer KC Porter released on digital platforms the album “KC Porter presents: Azabache de Cuba (The street is hot)”, dedicated entirely to traditional Cuban music, the record label Insignia Records reported on Tuesday. The label indicated in a statement that the album is a journey through various Cuban genres and rhythms. Along with Azabache, a group from Santiago de Cuba, singers and musicians from all over the eastern Cuban region participate, forming a stellar team. “I'm a big fan of traditional Cuban music. I consider it to be the matrix of a lot of music that is currently being made in the world. I always wanted to be part of such a production, with emphasis on the musical roots of Cuba,” said the producer. The album includes musicians and singers from different groups such as the Sanluisera Union, Estrellas de la Charanga, Sonora La Calle, Los Guanches, Los Karachi, Septeto Turquino, Changüí Santiago and La Conga de Los Hoyos, among others. The statement noted that KC Porter is one of the most impactful producers in the last 30 years. He has won several Latin Grammys and Grammys. He worked on more than 40 albums with tens of millions in sales. He is internationally known for his work on Santana's classic “Supernatural”, and on records and singles by great artists such as Selena, Shakira, Janet Jackson, Laura Pausini, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Michael Jackson, Ricky Martin, Santana, Luis Miguel, Sting, Alejandro Sanz, Usher and Justin Timberlake, among many others. The album was recorded and mixed entirely in Santiago de Cuba by Iván Salas, and mastered in Los Angeles by Javier Valdeavellano. In Cuba, it was co-produced by Alden González and Damián Busqueta, under the musical direction of Wilber Jesús Cos. “I really enjoyed producing this album, of which I am especially fascinated by its flavor, its spontaneity. We have recorded music that is based on the ability to improvise that the Cuban musician from the village has, from the street. We are showing the world a lot of unreleased traditional Cuban music, currently unknown,” said KC Porter. Co-producer Alden González said he was “very happy that one of the most important producers in the entire world music industry has decided to bet on traditional Cuban music.” “We have been very excited in all the processes of this production, which contains many unique shots and very little editing. Much of its wealth lies in its naturalness,” he said. CHIEF msc/
