Nairo Quintana is one of the top leaders in Colombian cycling in recent years. The Boyacense rider was one of the protagonists in Paris-Nice, a race in which he finished fifth in the overall standings at 3 minutes and 45 seconds, as well as being one of the four major references in the queen stage that was played between Nice and Col de Turini, finishing in fourth place.
All this reflects the preparation that Nairo Quintana has had for this season, where he already demonstrated his enormous potential in competitions by crowning himself champion of the Tour de la Provence and the Tour of the Alpes-Maritimes. His main goal and as he said a few weeks ago is the Tour de France, a race in which he has managed to be top 3 in 2013, 2015 and 2016.
“The Tour de France is a race that I have been fighting for many years, I have done three podiums and I have suffered a lot and enjoyed it. It is probably the race that has given me the most, but we are still fighting to continue to shine because it is the race of the house, of the French. It is a goal to be able to have a victory or the first victory in a stage, or whatever it is on the Tour,” said Nairo Quintana a few days ago in an interview with his team.

This enormous preparation has allowed him to consolidate himself as one of the great references to be considered in the Grande Boucle, as well as being the strong card for Colombia in 2022 after the departure of Egan Bernal who is still working on his recovery after he had an accident while training in Colombia. It is important to remember that Quintana would be making its ninth participation in the Tour de France and the eighth in a row,
Another major goal of the season for the Colombian rider is to position Arkea-Sámsic among the best teams in the world and thus obtain his World Tour license. In the most recent UCI ranking, Nairo Quintana was one of the cyclists who climbed the most places in the ranking of individual road runner, he went from being in 45th place to ranking in the top 30, being in the 28th box, something that has enormous merit since he is positioned above riders such as Guillaume Martin, Geraint Thomas and Aleksander Vlasov. Egan Bernal remains the best Colombian runner in the 17th box after dropping five places; the list is headed by Slovenian riders Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic, followed by Belgian Wout Van Aert.
