Santo Domingo, 15 Mar The British band Coldplay has demanded that the organizers of their first performance in Santo Domingo, on March 22, recycle the waste of plastics, cardboard or other materials generated during what will be their first “carbon neutral” concert in the Caribbean. “All the material used behind the scenes will be glass or cardboard, they (Coldplay) have also arranged to install equipment that records all fuel consumption per hour and liters, to have an energy-saving base,” promoter Saymon Díaz said at a press conference. He stated that the band had these details included in the contract signed for the concert, part of the “Music of the Spheres” tour, to be held at the Félix Sanchez Olympic Stadium, the first time the musicians performed in the Dominican Republic. Every supplier “has to present a plan for what they will do with the waste at the end of the concert, which will be supervised by a team from the group, and we have also hired a company to do the same,” added the businessman. Diaz is also responsible for the two concerts that Coldplay will offer in Costa Rica, on March 18 and 19, at the National Stadium of the capital, San José, as part of this tour, which includes other Latin American countries. The rock group led by Chris Martin announced at the end of 2019 that for their future concerts they would implement measures to reduce environmental pollution generated in them. In the Dominican Republic, the culture of recycling is not widespread and the plants that exist for this are owned by the private sector, while the role of the State is to provide permits and provide them with support.
