Armand Duka re-elected as president of the Albanian Football Federation

Tirana, 15 Mar Armand Duka was re-elected Tuesday for the sixth consecutive term as president of the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF), amid allegations of corruption and money laundering. Duka, 59, won 37 votes in favor of the 43 delegates present at the federation's general assembly against his rival, Sulejman Starova who won only 4 votes. The other candidate, Dritan Shakohoxha, did not attend the call because he considered it illegitimate. In his brief speech following his re-election, Duka stated that he is “thrilled” by confidence and guaranteed that he will correct mistakes and work for the good of football. Twelve delegates were absent from the assembly, 6 of them from the Tirana football association, who support Shokohoxha. The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, as a shareholder of the capital's football club KF Tirana, has accused the president of the federation of corruption and money laundering, as well as manipulating the process of the election of the delegates.
