Torino squeeze past Genoa in 3-2 victory at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino

Torino beat Genoa with a thumping 3-2 victory on Friday at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino. Torino arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Napoli. Genoa, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. After today's result, Torino and Genoa currently occupy 10th and 19th spots in the league, with 11 points and 6 points respectively after 9 matches.

The Bull started strongly in the first half, with Antonio Sanabria giving Torino the lead, 14 minutes in. Torino then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Tommaso Pobega in the 31st minute, finishing the first half 2-0.

The Griffin took the lead in the second half, thanks to Mattia Destro finding the net, 70 minutes in. However, Torino increased their advantage following a Josip Brekalo goal, at 77 minutes to make it 3-1. Genoa in turn, then responded at the 80 minute mark increasing their lead with an effort from Felipe Caicedo. The game ended with a 3-2 home victory.

For Torino, Mergim Vojvoda, Dennis Praet, Andrea Belotti and Ola Aina, came on for Wilfried Stephane Singo, Karol Linetty, Antonio Sanabria and Cristian Ansaldi. Genoa brought on Yayah Kallon, Pablo Galdames, Felipe Caicedo, Valon Behrami and Goran Pandev, to replace Paolo Ghiglione, Abdoulaye Toure, Caleb Ekuban, Stefano Sturaro and Mattia Destro.

There were bookings for Tommaso Pobega and Dennis Praet from Torino. For Genoa, Johan Vasquez, Mohamed Fares and Yayah Kallon saw yellow.

Genoa and Torino will next play away to Spezia Calcio and AC Milan respectively.
