Home fans celebrate as Stefano Pioli’s men secure win against Benevento on Saturday

On Saturday, Benevento suffer an away defeat to AC Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Both teams arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. Milan were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Lazio. Benevento lost 4-2 in the last match they played against Udinese. As things stand, Milan and Benevento currently occupy 2nd and 18th spots in the league, with 69 points and 31 points respectively after 34 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Rossoneri, thanks to Hakan Calhanoglu giving Milan the lead early in the first half, seeing out the first half 1-0.

Milan continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Theo Hernandez at the 60 minute mark. They managed to see the game out with a clean sheet and a final score of 2-0.

For Milan, Sandro Tonali, Ante Rebic, Samu Castillejo, Davide Calabria and Brahim Diaz, came on for Ismael Bennacer, Rafael Leao, Alexis Saelemaekers, Theo Hernandez and Hakan Calhanoglu. Benevento brought on Roberto Insigne, Adolfo Gaich, Gianluca Caprari and Andres Tello, to replace Iago Falque, Gianluca Lapadula, Riccardo Improta and Bryan Dabo.

The referee booked Ismael Bennacer and Samu Castillejo for Milan.

Milan will next travel to Juventus, while Benevento will face Cagliari at home.
