Osasuna ease past Villarreal with a 2-1 victory away

Osasuna beat Villarreal with a thumping 2-1 victory on Sunday at the Estadio de la Ceramica. Villarreal were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Granada away (3-0), the other to Cádiz at home (2-1) while Osasuna secured a point against Getafe in their previous match. Following today's result, Villarreal are currently 7th with 46 points from 30 matches, while Osasuna sit in 13th, with 34 points from 30.

After a goalless first half, Osasuna continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Jon Moncayola, 64 minutes in. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from David Garcia at the 70 minute mark, brought Villarreal level. In the end though, Osasuna in the 74th minute took the victory via a Ante Budimir goal. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

For Villarreal, Gerard Moreno, Alfonso Pedraza, Samuel Chukwueze, Manu Trigueros and Fer Nino, came on for Javier Martinez Calvo, Juan Cruz, Ante Budimir, Enrique Barja and Ruben Garcia. Osasuna replaced Lucas Torro, Manu Sanchez, Jonathan Calleri, Roberto Torres and Oier with Javier Martinez Calvo, Juan Cruz, Ante Budimir, Enrique Barja and Ruben Garcia.

Villarreal will next travel to Alaves, while Osasuna will face Valencia at home.
