"I have a clear, simple mission: winning a medal in Beijing," says Tia Hellebaut. Atos Origin Enlists High Jumper for 2008

Atos Origin will sponsor Belgian high jumper Tia Hellebaut for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Hellebaut has won gold medals at the 2006 European Championships and 2007 European Indoor Championships.

She joins a list of athletes from the Netherlands, the U.S. and the UK sponsored by the IOC TOP sponsor and partner of Beijing 2008.

Samsung Increases Taekwondo Support

Samsung recently became a partner of the 2007 WTF World Taekwondo Qualification Event for Beijing 2008, September 28-30 in Manchester, UK.

Since 2005, TOP IOC sponsor Samsung hasalso been a global partner of the World Taekwondo Federation.

Event organizers say UK interest in taekwondo has exploded in recent years.

“The fact we are able to attract companies of Samsung’s magnitude shows just how far the sport has come in a relatively short space of time,” Event Director Andrew Link tells British media.

Lateral Movement in Anheuser-Bush Management

Beijing 2008 partner Anheuser-Busch has named Dave Peacock VP of marketing. Michael Owens, previous marketing VP, will move into Peacock’s former role as VP of business operations.

The switch comes after the company struggled this summer season to incorporate dozens of new craft and import brands into its diverse portfolio. A disappointing turnout for marketing venture Bud.TV, on which A-B already has spent nearly $30 million, added to the trouble.

Anheuser-Busch is also a partner of the USOC, and under its Michelob brand, the British Olympic Association.
