The German capital of Berlin will be swimming with aquatics athletes come October as it will host the FINA Swimming World Cup series opener and now, announced Wednesday, will also host the FINA Diving World Cup from October 20-23.

FINA and the German Swimming Federation have worked together to bring both events to Berlin and put a spotlight on global aquatics. Germany has a storied history of hosting FINA events including a 20 year stretch of hosting the FINA Diving Grand Prix in Rostock from 2001-2020.

The FINA Diving World Cup is an opportunity for divers to showcase their skills on a global stage and put a spotlight on the talent and hard work the athletes put into perfecting their craft in addition to putting prize money on the line to motivate them. This year’s purse will be $159,000 paid out to the top six finishers in the individual events and the top three finishers in the synchronized events.

This event will also be an opportunity for FINA to test out a new format over four days with nine medal events. While the event will be shorter, the format will give more athletes the opportunity to compete. Berlin will feature four individual events (Men 3m Springboard and 10m Platform; Women 3m Springboard and 10m Platform), four synchronized events (Men Synchro 3m and 10m; Women Synchro 3m and 10m) and the Team event.
