He will chair the IOC's Evaluation Commission for the winter bids that will visit the three cities in February and March. Igaya, 75, has been an IOC member since 1982. An alpine skier, in 1956 Igagya became the first Japanese to win a medal at the Winter Olympics. He competed in three Winter Games. Igaya resigned his seat on the IOC Ethics Commission after being named chair of the Evaluation Commission. As one of the leaders of the Japan Olympic Committee, Igaya is expected to be an influence on Tokyo's bid for 2016, once his 2014 duties have ended.
