Toñita said she wasn't invited to “The Academy 20 years”: “I'm not relevant to them”

One of the most memorable reality shows in Mexico is back in 2022: La Academia. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of its first season, TV Azteca has opted for a new season that aims to be one of the most ambitious in terms of both budget and talent and after a series of rumors that suggest that a large part of the former participants return to the program in some way, some familiar faces have already mentioned that they were not required.

Toñita is one of the first generation celebrities - considered one of the best by fans and television critics - who not only won the support and affection of the Mexican public, but even returned to the second season of Desafío de Estrellas - a musical reality show in which the former students of La Academia and other artists of TV Azteca - and beat other celebrities such as Carlos Rivera, Erasmo, Raúl Aranza and Adrián.

However, the singer has confessed that she was not required for the big celebration that the Ajusco television station is preparing, despite having won its All Star version and being one of the most recognized faces in the franchise: “When someone loves someone, they call them from the beginning, and I have never been called. I am not relevant to them, so you have to look in the places where you are relevant, if they need you and they do occupy you”, he told various media.

Although his attitude was not shown to the cameras as an annoyed or resentful person, it was the following statements that have given us what to talk about in digital communities that are fans of reality shows like this: “If they are the ones who created all this and don't want to call us, it's not about us, it's their question... It's like when people tell you 'You're ungrateful. ' And you say, 'Why should I be ungrateful? ' . I am knocking on doors and they open them for me, and I am going to go where they are going to open the doors for me, I am not going to beg where they do not open them for me,” he said.

Toñita assured that she will always be grateful for the project and that she even maintains a very good relationship with colleagues, judges and production, however she has basic needs such as feeding and dressing her daughter that are not covered only by the fact that she participated in the most successful program in the history of TV Azteca, so she always needs to work regardless of the television station's shirt.

“I am grateful for the project, I will always be but I also have to work; I have a daughter, I have to keep things, so I won't be crying where they don't peel me and where they don't listen to me, I better go knock on doors where they do listen to me and give me work, anyone would do it,” he added.

Although the celebration will mainly be shown on television, the members of the first generation have already agreed to do theirs privately, reuniting their children, family and friends with the members who “may be”. The singer gave much more details about the future meeting, as well as the date, although she did not want to give information about the former academics who might be present.

“We are going to meet to celebrate, that is the law, from July 1 to 4. Something very nice and very quiet. It is a private meeting, we are going to get together to live together, remember and be the people we need to be, those who can go,” he revealed.
