In the municipality of Jamundí (Valle del Cauca), the alleged murderer of patrolman Luis Edilberto Ocampo was captured, who was shot with a knife on August 29 last year, when he was attacked with a stab in the back in the middle of the closure procedure of an establishment.

The man was identified as Fabian Alberto Pedrozo, as reported in the television news program Citynoticias, on the Bogotá channel City T.V.

The accused for that crime had fled the Colombian capital after committing the aggression for which the uniformed man later lost his life, they added in that news.

On the RCN Radio station, they indicated that El Pedrozo kept a low profile in the Jamundí area where he hid to avoid attracting attention and avoiding being close to other people, such as going out into the street.

However, the researchers of that institution had managed to establish that the person captured was in that municipality of Vallecaucano, so they notified their parents in that department, they indicated in the magazine Semana.

“The Metropolitan Police of Bogotá gave us the warning that the subject was hiding in the region and our intelligence and judicial police group began to search for information about the place where he was hiding. This is how, after several days of monitoring and analysis of evidence, we were able to find the location”, they highlighted the statements of General Juan Carlos León Montes, commander in Cali.

They highlighted that the person responsible for the crime had been issued an arrest warrant in December last year by the 228 Prosecutor's Office of the Life Unit of Bogotá for the crime of aggravated homicide and the operation was carried out on public roads in the Ciro Velasco neighborhood.

After the legalization of the procedure before a Guarantee Control judge, they imposed an assurance measure on him and deprived him of his liberty in a prison establishment.

The events in which the uniformed man lost his life occurred when a fight began in the middle of the closure of a night establishment in the El Triangulo neighborhood, in the northwest of the city. There they lashed out at an officer who was accompanying Ocampo Ramos, but when trying to mediate the situation, a man stabs him in the back.

“He tries to mediate and also drive the person who was offending the police at that time is attacked in the back with a knife by a criminal,” General Eliecer Camacho, commander of the police in Bogotá, said at the time.

Although the patrolman was taken to the La Colina Clinic, due to the seriousness of the injury caused to him, the uniformed man died.

In Citynoticias they recalled that after the crime, another man was captured, who was told to attack the policeman, but was released, since the real perpetrator had fled the scene, after the attack with the knife.

Patrolman Luis Edilberto Ocampo, they reported on RCN Radio, was 24 years old and since 2015 he was linked to the public forces, first as an assistant bachelor in Villavicencio, where he was a native. He subsequently entered the Police Training School and received 19 congratulations for his work.
