
The drug camps that held various communities incommunicado in the Tepalcatepec and Coalcomán regions, in Michoacán (in central western Mexico) were destroyed by elements of the Sedena and the National Guard.
On Tuesday, the Secretary of Public Security of the State announced through its Twitter account that security posts were located in the regions of Álvaro Obregón, Canoitas, Pinolapa and La Purificador, security posts were located, which alleged members of the criminal group Carteles United installed to prevent the entry of other rival organizations.
“Together with @SEDENAmx and @GN_MEXICO_, we located and destroyed 5 parapets in the municipalities of Tepalcatepec and Coalcomán; operational actions are being maintained to preserve order in Tierra Caliente. #HonestidadyTrabajo”, it reads.
On April 16, Juan Miguel “N”, alias El Johnny, alleged operator of the Los Rojos criminal group, was captured in the municipality of Tepalcatepec, a division of the Beltrán Leyva cartel.
Johnny is considered a priority target for the United States for the crimes of money laundering, criminal association and against health. Authorities identify him as one of the main operators in the trafficking of drugs from South America; he has a provisional arrest warrant for the purpose of extradition to the United States.
Tepalcatepec (west of Michoacán) is identified as the base of operations for Juan José Álvarez Farías, alias El Abuelo, leader of United Cartels.
According to intelligence information, the criminal group led by El Abuelo disputes the municipalities of Michoacán with the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG).
For a few months now, soldiers and agents of the National Guard have been touring areas to locate, remove and destroy the barricades placed at the main entrances of Tepalcatepec.
