This Sunday, the controversial Electric Reform of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will be debated in San Lázaro, so that deputies from the different political parties in Mexico are proposing and defending their positions regarding the initiative that aims to modify the country's energy sector. Minutes before boarding a truck that would take Morena's legislators to the Chamber of Deputies, Yeidckol Polevnsky took the opportunity to share his position.
In response to the press intervention, the deputy of the National Regeneration Movement party (Morena) defended the Electric Reform of the President of Mexico and asserted that this vote will define who is on which side, that is, whether legislators are on the side of the Mexican people or respond to the interests of private companies.
Yeidckol Polevnsky pointed out that the vote on the Electric Reform is crucial to define the political future not only of different personalities of Mexican politics but also of the same parties, since he assured that some would disappear as a result of this Sunday's votes.
“I think that many here are going to define their future, many politicians. Many will be able to bury their future because voting against this Reform, voting against Mexicans means ending a political future, those who believe they have it, and want to vote that way and show that they are in the economic interests are not in the interests of Mexico. Many things are going to be defined here, I think that until the death of some parties because after this some that are in that decision to remain in a position that benefits a few and not the majority,” said Deputy Yeidckol Polevnsky.
In addition, Yeidckol Polevnsky stated that there are members of the opposition who have not even read the Electricity Reform and that they will only vote against it by mandate and for the economic interests involved.
“We did open a dialogue so that everyone knew about the reform and for everyone to give opinions and comments, there are those who have not even read it and have a mandate to say 'I am going to vote against' and this is because it is an aberration or is that there is much interest is involved or there is too much money involved,” said the deputy of the National Regeneration Movement Party (Morena).
In this way, Yeidckol Polevnsky mentioned that the bench of the cherry party is convinced that they are doing the right thing for the people of Mexico and that the Electricity Reform is committed to the benefit of all Mexicans because it is the only way to reduce energy prices, which increased when the last Energy Reform promoted during the six-year term of former President Enrique Peña Nieto came into force.
The Electricity Reform of Andrés Manuel López Obrador has been severely criticized for the environmental impact it would generate, however, Morenist MP Yeidckol Polevnsky argued that this initiative is clearly clean energy because it puts hydroelectric power plants first.
“Right now the interest is not only that they do not continue to rise (energy costs) but that they are reduced. To stop subsidizing private energy certificates through clean energy certificates so that the Federal Commission is really strengthened,” said Yeidckol Polevnsky.
Likewise, the deputy of the Morena bench stressed that the doors will not be closed to private investors, on the contrary, according to Polevnsky, all those private producers who do comply will be taken into account. In this way, he assured that municipalities will benefit, as well as all kinds of institutions that use electricity such as schools and hospitals, but above all, the cost of electricity of each household of each Mexican family.
