The Formula Group announced through social media the death of its lifetime president, businessman and radio visionary in Mexico, Rogerio Azcárraga, at the age of 94.
One of his greatest contributions was to change the radio solely musicalized to the radio spoken and full of drivers to accompany the listener in a much more intimate way, in addition to implementing a show journalism bar directed and composed only of female hosts.
One of the first people to react was the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, who via social media sent a message of solidarity for the family and close to the radio businessman.
“I regret the passing of Don Rogerio Azcárraga, a visionary man who is passionate about culture and entertainment. A hug and all my solidarity to his family and friends”, wrote the policy that emerged from the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) in the capital.
However, Grupo Formula's personalities, broadcasters and broadcasters did the same through social networks, such as Ciro Gómez Leyva, who referred to Don Rogerio as “an exceptional man, who had an exceptional life”.
“Wherever you are now, my gratitude and eternal affection, dear Rogerio. And my fraternal embrace for Jaime and the Azcárraga family,” he wrote through his official Twitter.
The host Azucena Uresti did the same, who assured that the businessman “will be remembered as a pioneer of communication” and for her, he will be “always remembered for his gentle, cheerful, respectful treatment and for welcoming me into his family”.
“I feel it with all my heart dear Jaime, Andrea and Lorenza. I am very sorry friends and colleagues of @Radio_Formula”, he wrote in his official profile.
Gina Ibarra, head of the program Talking about Mom to Mom, who published a photograph that she says is from two months ago, where a few drivers of her company are seen sharing the table with Mr. Rogerio. She also added that she is extremely saddened by the news and said she was grateful and always fond of the businessman.
“Having lunch with Don Rogelio Azcárraga, whom we say goodbye today with sadness but he leaves us with great memories and teachings. Have a good trip Don Roger”, wrote Ibarra.
Flor Rubio, on the other hand, limited himself to a sincere “Until forever, dear Don Rogerio” through his Twitter.
Another politician who joined the condolences was Ricardo Monreal, president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Mexican Senate.
“Great driver of radio broadcasting in Mexico. My condolences to Jaime, his son, his family, friends and collaborators. It leaves a great legacy in communication. May he rest in peace,” he wrote.
Miguel Barbosa, the governor of the state of Puebla did the same on his social networks, as did Mauricio Villa, the governor of the state of Yucatan, Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong, senator and former secretary of the interior, Alejandro Murat, governor of Oaxaca, as well as Arturo Zaldívar, president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Mikel Arriola, president of the Liga MX and former candidate for the leadership of CDMX.
Jesús Ramírez Cuevas, the General Coordinator of Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic, was not left behind, who through Twitter wished “a speedy recovery from the loss of one of the pioneers who revolutionized radio in Mexico.”
