Easter holidays: 5 steps to calculate how much you should be paid

The beginning of Holy Week in Peru is one of the most anticipated times of the year for Peruvians, as the holidays scheduled by the government, dates that are used by many to rest at home, recover energy and/or leave trip to the interior of the country. This is one of the benefits that workers also receive, who have days off when they do not work, but that does not affect their biweekly or monthly pay.

Those who have to work on these dates, from Thursday 14 to Friday 15, must consider that the employer must meet their payment responsibilities and not violate your rights as a worker. In the following lines we are going to explain how you can calculate how much you are owed in just 5 steps.

The fact: Will there be a long holiday? It is understood as the union of holy days, Thursday and Friday, with the weekend, Saturday and Sunday. So you have 4 days in which you don't work and can be used to do various activities.

3. If you have to work on holidays without replacing rest for other days, you should receive triple your daily remuneration, as established by the rule.

4. The payment received for working on Thursday and/or Friday must include daily remuneration for the work done, as well as remuneration for the rest of the unused holiday and a third remuneration for the holiday. The latter is already included in the weekly, biweekly or monthly remuneration, as appropriate.

5. If the employer grants a day of rest to replace each holiday worked, the payment of an additional sum to the corresponding salary will no longer be due. These mandatory indications are also valid for professionals who perform telework.

WHAT TO DO IF I DON'T GET PAID TO WORK AT EASTER?

According to the public supervisor, if your rights as a worker are violated, you need to file a complaint with Sunafil. If it is found that a fault has been committed, the company in which you work would be punished with a fine.

If this is your case, you must follow these steps to file the report online:

1. Go to the Sunafil website and locate the section “Guidance, procedures and most visited services”.

2. Go to the option that says “Report labor violations by a private company”.

3. In the form that you will see on the full screen the fields requested: the company's RUC number or employer's DNI (when this is natural personnel), the address of the workplace to be reported, as well as attach the documents supporting your complaint (such as payment slips, employment contract, among others).

4. Important: You need to enter your email address and a personal mobile number.
