Atlético Huila does not live a good present in the Dimayor Betplay Tournament where it occupies the last place of the championship with only four points and minus seven in the goal difference being the team with the most defeated fence so far in ten dates played.

Gone are those years in which the team opita was a great animator of the first division of Colombian football, reaching the title fight with giants such as Atlético Nacional in the first half of 2007 and in 2009 against Independiente Medellín.

In its ranks, players of large scrolls have passed in which they stand out; Mayer Candelo, Fredy Montero, Wilson Morelo, Jefferson Lerma, Ayron del Valle and Ricardo Ciciliano (QEPD), among others.

It should be recalled that Atlético Huila was founded in the early nineties and rose to the first category in 1992 under the direction of Alberto Rujana. After 23 years in the A, the club would descend to return in 2021 but would lose the category again.

For this reason, in the internal team of the opita team they would have decided to change course to start a serious project that will take them back to the first division of Colombian football. Everything points to the fact that Atlético Huila would have been sold.

The operation would have been carried out thanks to the intervention of an Antioquia advisory group and the official announcement would be made on Tuesday of next week.

The new owners of Atlético Huila are part of a Portuguese investor firm and the first change is in the technical direction that would be assumed by a coach of the same nationality.

On the other hand, the presidency would be left to Ignacio 'Nacho' Velásquez, son of the late Javier Velázquez who in his lifetime was president of teams such as; Envigado, Independiente Medellín, Atlético Nacional and Deportivo Pasto respectively.

According to information from RCN Radio journalist José María Yepes, for several months now the current president of the institution, Juan Carlos Patarroyo, has been negotiating the figures for the sale of the club with Europeans.

Juan Carlos Patarroyo himself told the journalist of Caracol Radio de Neiva, José Diego Cardoza, that there is a proposal for the sale of the equipment, although he did not elaborate on the operation.

In ten games played, those led by José Fernando Santa have not managed to win a single match and in their last start they fell in the Bello Horizonte of Villavicencio 2-1 against Llaneros. His next match will be at Guillermo Plazas Alcid against Deportes Quindio for the 11th date of the Dimayor Betplay Tournament.
