Xóchitl Gálvez, senator for the National Action Party, presented the replica of the Grey House in scale and with plastic figures to demonstrate the lack of seriousness with which the Andrés Manuel López Obrador government takes the case. All in reference to the home in which José Ramón López Beltrán resided in Houston, United States.

It was during the press conference of the PAN parliamentary group, that the legislator asked her companions to take out the toy she had “given” them and revealed a model of the house in question. Gálvez recalled the issue after two months after it was revealed that the president's son was staying in a luxurious house owned by a former Baker Hughes executive.

“To date, this potential conflict of interest has gone unpunished. I am pleased that today the Attorney General's Office of Justice of the Republic announced that it will open an investigation and this is because social networks have burned down 36 times,” he said, referring to the number of days that José Ramón's name has appeared in search trends and mentions.

“The government has tried to minimize and oblivion, and has not taken governing seriously. The president thinks it's all a game. It all sums up to lies. So today I brought him this toy to keep him entertained since he loves corruption. I present to you the Grey House so that you can entertain in assembling the case,” the panista continued in her onslaught.

Gálvez has been one of the leading figures in the opposition to take action to have the case investigated by the authorities, not only in Mexico, but also in the United States. For the second half of February, the senator shared that she filed a complaint with the Security Exchange Commission (SEC), which was admitted under the folio 16439-711-457-818.

It all began with a joint report by Latinus and the civil organization Mexicanos Against Corruption and Impunity, in which they announced the alleged link that the López Obrador administration, specifically Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), had with the company Baker Hughes, so that it represented a conflict of interest that José Ramón lived in a property owned by a former manager.

In a first effort to clarify what happened, it was the same company that carried out an internal audit. It determined that there were no problems whatsoever and ruled out other possible cases of corruption. Baker Hughes' Vice President for Mexico and Latin America, Bob Perez, was responsible for reporting on the investigations carried out.

“I can tell you that we did not find a conflict of interest or anything irregular, (everything is) totally in accordance with Mexican law the practices of this company. (Keith Schilling) was employed by Baker Hughes during 2016 and left the company in December 2019. During his time at Hughes he worked for our North American group and Baker Hughes Mexico is not under that group, Mexico is under the Latin American group,” said the manager.

Finally, the official account of the PAN parliamentary group in the Senate supported what Xóchitl Gálvez did and published a publication in which he reiterated the intention of his words. “So that we don't forget that the corruption of #CasaGris is the most obvious of all the corruption that emanates from the family of president @lopezobrador_. Enough, President, you played, I already ruled”, the tweet reads.
