Martial arts fighter Jorge Masvidal arrested in the US for brawl

Miami, 24 Mar Mixed martial arts fighter Jorge Masvidal was arrested Wednesday night for beating fellow Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Colby Covington at a restaurant in Miami Beach (USA), local media report Thursday. Masvidal was released early today after posting a $15,000 bail, after being arrested on charges of aggravated assault with bodily harm and criminal vandalism, Miami local channel WPLG reported. The 37-year-old wrestler born in Miami, South Florida, was admitted at 10.30 on Wednesday night (02.30 GMT Thursday) to the Turner Guilford Knight Jail by Miami Beach Police for beating Covington at a restaurant in the South Beach neighborhood on Monday night. The police report details that as a result of the beatings the injured person resulted in a broken tooth and a bruise in his left eye, as well as damage to a Rolex watch worth $90,000. Images recorded by the local channel WPLG show Covington leaving the premises after the battle, as well as Masvidal leaving prison early today without making statements and covering his face. Masvidal and Covington were friends, even shared a home in Florida, until their friendship broke down for about three years, as reported by the ESPN network.
