London, 23 Mar England, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland have confirmed their interest in co-hosting the 2028 Euro Cup. The federations of these countries have submitted to UEFA an “Expression of Interest” (EOI), which follows a feasibility study, to analyze the resources available to host the tournament and the benefits that the nations involved will receive. “We believe that Euro 2028 will be one of the largest sporting events ever hosted in the UK and Ireland. This unprecedented union of five federations offers something special to European football, including the possibility of expanding the tournament,” the five federations said in a joint statement. “In the coming months, we will further develop our proposals, subject to the publication by UEFA of the technical specifications for hosting the tournament. This includes starting conversations to see which cities and stadiums would best suit the tournament model,” he adds. With this candidacy, England also withdraws its interest in hosting the 2030 World Cup, which was another possibility handled by the FA. The UK and Ireland bid is the only one currently on the table for UEFA. England is coming from hosting eight matches in the last Euro 2020, including the semifinals and the final, which was an organizational disaster, with 90 detainees and several altercations throughout the city of London.
