A few days after the last qualifying matches for the Qatar World Cup, one of the strikers called by Reinaldo Rueda has given something to talk about during the last few hours due to a possible injury that could leave him out of the list. This is Miguel Ángel Borja, the Cordovan attacker who provides his services to the Junior of Barranquilla.

In the most recent match that his team played, against Equidad, to qualify for the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana, the player came out in the 65th minute after a clash with Nicolás Palacios, from the rival squad. Borja tried to stay on the court, but began to feel discomfort in the back of his right leg and was a little dizzy. Assisted by goalkeeper Sergio Roman, he asked for change. In his place Carmelo Valencia entered.

Borja opened the score of the match after 5 minutes. With this goal he already reaches 5 goals so far this year, which is why he remains on the radar of the national team. His team would end up winning 3-1. The other two goals were scored by Luis Daniel Gonzalez, in the 36th minute, and Yesus Cabrera, on penalty, in the 80th minute. The goal scored by La Equidad was scored by Francisco Javier Chaverra, in the 18th minute.

The Junior striker made his debut on November 4, 2016 with the senior team of the Colombia National Team led by José Pekerman. On November 10, he appeared as a starter against Chile, a game that would end in a draw without goals, and was replaced at halftime by Falcao García. His first goals in the yellow jacket were scored on November 14, 2017, in a friendly match against China.

On May 14, 2018, he was summoned by the Argentine coach to be part of the Colombian team that would compete in the Russian World Cup. He made his debut on June 28, entering Falcao in the second half against Senegal, a match in which Colombia achieved its qualification to the round of 16, a phase in which the team is eliminated in the penalty shootout by England. In that last game, Borja could not even be on the bench of substitutes due to an injury.

So far from the Qualifiers to Qatar 2022, Miguel Ángel Borja has been present in 8 matches and scored 3 goals. One against Argentina, and two against Chile. He is undoubtedly one of the deadliest strikers in Colombian football in recent years. He'll barely reach the age of 30. He has played for ten clubs in Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Italy. He holds the record of having scored the fastest double in the history of the South American qualifiers. He has been champion of the Copa Libertadores with Atlético Nacional and the Copa Sudamericana with Independiente Santa Fe. He was part of America's ideal team in 2016 and was awarded the King of America in the same year. In 2020 he was highlighted in the ideal team of the Colombian league.

The other strikers called by Rueda are: Luis Diaz (Liverpool), Alfredo Morelos (Rangers), Luis Sinisterra (Feyenoord), Rafael Santos Borre (Eintracht Frankfurt), Luis Suarez (Granada) and Harold Preciado (Santos Laguna).

Among the possible variants that could take Borja's place, if he is dismissed, are names such as those of Juan Camilo 'Cucho' Hernández (Watford), Yáser Asprilla (Envigado), Fredy Montero (Seattle Saunders) and Hugo Rodallega (Bahia).

The Cordoba team has not yet decided on the official medical part of the player. The Colombia National Team plays on March 24. Will Borja Hernandez make it to the appointment?
