“López Obrador and Bejarano are the same thing”: Kenya López and Lilly Tellez defended Sandra Cuevas from Sheinbaum and AMLO

The PAN bench could not prevent the approval of the government propaganda reform nor could it grant the license to Sandra Cuevas, so they pointed out, from the rostrum, that the Morena government will not succeed in 2024

Kenia López Rabadán and Lilly Tellez, senators for the National Action Party (PAN), duet during the regular session of this Thursday, March 17, to defend Sandra Cuevas, mayor of Cuauhtémoc, and point out the political subtext in which the figures of Dolores Padierna, René Bejarano, stand out. Claudia Sheinbaum and Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO).

Originally, the session was planned to discuss the ratification of the draft decree on the reform within the scope of the concept of government propaganda; however, following a question from non-party senator Emilio Álvarez Icaza, the participation of the panist took a sudden turn.

And it is that the senator attached to the Plural Parliamentary Group (GPP) recalled that on Wednesday 16, the opposition senators “broke” the session so that there would be no quorum and, in this way, postpone the vote on the law. Likewise, he pointed out that at the local CDMX congress, Morena National Regeneration Movement (Morena) and its allies did the same to avoid granting Sandra Cuevas's license, leaving the door open to being replaced with a list promoted by the head of government.

Following this questioning, López Rabadán outlined a response that what happened with the mayor is part of a political persecution orchestrated by Claudia Sheinbaum, head of government of Mexico City.

In that sense, she assured that what they are doing to Cuevas Nieves is terrible for women who are making decisions, for democracy and for politics. “They want to rob him of the mayor's office he won at the polls and they want to do it in the most miserable way.” To finish answering the senator's question, López Rabadán dedicated a message to Dr. Sheinbaum.

Immediately, Lilly Tellez posed another question to the PAN senator, except that it elaborated on the relationship that could exist between René Bejarano and President López Obrador, since Dolores Padierna, Bejarano's wife, competed for mayor, but lost to Cuevas.

Given this, López Rabadán recalled the 2004 video scandal when René Bejarano was caught on video receiving thousands of pesos in cash inside his office when he was an official of the then Federal District (DF) today Mexico City (CDMX).

In the heat of their statements, he assured that this is Morena and AMLO, that is why they are preparing to “violate the Constitution”. Then they continued with the session and it was decided that the reform to modify the Scope of the Concept of Government Propaganda would be approved, this because with 67 votes in favor and 25 against, the Senate of the Republic ratified the Morenoist initiative.
