Stalemate at Estadi de Son Moix, as Mallorca draw 1-1 with Seville

Mallorca and Seville effectively cancel each other out in a 1-1 draw

On Wednesday, Mallorca and Seville were held to a 1-1 draw at Estadi de Son Moix. Mallorca wanted to continue adding points following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Valencia in their previous game. Seville were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Levante and Celta Vigo. As the table looks today, Mallorca are in 13th place on the table and has 12 points while Seville sit in 3rd with 20 points after 11 matches.

The Vermilions started well, with Antonio Sanchez giving Mallorca the lead, 22 minutes in, finalising the first half 1-0.

Seville took the initiative in the second half, thanks to a goal from Erik Lamela at the 73 minute mark. The game ended wih a 1-1 draw.

For Mallorca, Aleksandar Sedlar, Fernando Nino, Salva Sevilla, Jaume Costa and Joan Sastre, came on for Antonio Sanchez, Angel Rodriguez, Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta, Amath Ndiaye and Dani Rodriguez. Seville brought on Lucas Ocampos, Erik Lamela, Thomas Delaney, Ludwig Augustinsson and Ivan Rakitic, to replace Marcos Acuna, Suso, Oliver Torres, Munir El Haddadi and Joan Jordan.

The referee booked Antonio Sanchez, Brian Olivan, Manolo Reina and Franco Russo from Mallorca and Jaume Costa went off with a red card, while Seville's Marcos Acuna, Munir El Haddadi, Erik Lamela, Thomas Delaney and Fernando also received a yellow.

Mallorca will play away against Cádiz, while Seville will face Osasuna at home.
